Time slots are very important for keeping people safe and maintaining the best possible experience through the museum, so please leave yourself plenty of time on arrival. We recommend getting here at least 15 minutes early so that you are prepared and do not miss your time slot. If you arrive late, please note we cannot guarantee entry as this will be dependent on availability.

Only service dogs are permitted. You can contact us at [email protected] to talk to our team about what time may be best to enjoy the museum with your assistance dog.

Is the venue accessible?

Twist Museum is wheelchair accessible, apart from two exhibits that are on an incline.

Entry is directly from street level with lift access.

Smoking and vaping is not allowed anywhere at the museum. Food is not allowed in the exhibition space.

Do you offer carer tickets?

Yes! Carers are eligible for a free carer’s ticket, which is only available at the door once the relevant access documentation is presented to our box office staff (we can always guarantee carer tickets on the day with valid documentation shown). A disabled visitor’s carer can be any trusted companion they wish to bring with them on their visit, this person does not need to be a licensed carer (although this ID is also accepted). The forms of access documentation we accept are listed below: –

  • DLA/PIP letter
  • Access card
  • Blue Badge
  • CVI/BD8
  • Awarding letter of attendance allowance
  • Awarding letter of carer’s allowance
  • Carer’s ID/National Carer’s card
  • Disabled ID
  • Disabled person’s freedompass/railcard
  • International proof of disability

If you have a child with access needs, please purchase a ‘concession’ ticket for your child in advance (it is the same price as a child ticket) – following the showing of your child’s proof of access, you will receive your carers ticket at the door If you have any accessibility questions prior to your visit you can email our customer service team at [email protected]

How do I book a ticket for my carer?

Disabled visitors of all ages are eligible for a concession rate ticket, which can be purchased online, and is labelled ‘Senior (65) & Student’. Visitors with access needs are also entitled to a free carer’s ticket for their chosen companion, these are only available at the door once the relevant access documentation is presented to our box office staff (we can always guarantee carer tickets on the day with valid documentation shown). For a full list of accepted access documentation, please see the information listed under ‘Do You Offer Carer Tickets?’.

Is the experience accessible for deaf/visually impaired people?

The museum is focused around optical illusions, which can be challenging for visually impaired visitors. Only one exhibit includes an audio element so the museum is almost completely accessible to deaf visitors.

Will there be strobe lights?

Some of our exhibits contain lighting that may trigger individuals with photosensitivity. For more information please contact [email protected].

Are there chairs available? Can I be seated during the experience/exhibition?

The museum is a walkthrough experience however we have plenty of seating in our auditorium which can usually be accessed at the start or end of your visit, subject to special events happening in the area. Please check our What’s On section for more info.

Will restrooms be available on site?

Yes, there are restrooms at the museum. There are also baby-changing facilities for you to use in the male, female and accessible toilets.

Can I take photos or record the experience?

Absolutely – we encourage it! Some of our exhibits set the scene for truly extraordinary photos, which you can share online with your friends (and with us) find us on Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook.

All we ask is that you are respectful towards other guests when filming. And please don’t bring your tripod – even when your senses aren’t being tested, it’s a trip hazard.

Is there a Lost & Found?

We would recommend asking the on-site staff if they have found your belongings or you can email the customer service team at [email protected].

Is there a cloakroom available?

We have free lockers for anyone who would prefer to stow their bags and coats while enjoying the museum. Our lockers are big enough to store one medium-sized bag and some coats – but we are unable to accommodate large suitcases or multiple bags. Please note that we may need to search bags for security, all items left in lockers at the owner’s own risk.

Is there an age requirement?

No – the museum is specifically designed to ensure it is accessible, educational and fun for all ages. Our interactive and tactile museum is loved by adults and children alike, but please be aware that children under the age of 15 are not able to enter the exhibition space without an accompanying adult. Children under 3 enter for free.

Will there be an audio guide?

Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer an audio guide. We do, however, offer scheduled guided tour time slots available to book as an add-on to your ticket.
